Savoury chicken flavoured rice
This savoury chicken‑flavoured rice is wonderfully simple to make and turns out light. Cooked with stock, aromatics and a few pantry staples, it transforms plain rice into something far more comforting and flavourful. Savoury chicken flavoured rice
Ingredients
- 100 g basmati rice
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp parsley
- pinch of salt
- ¼ tsp sugar
- 500 ml chicken stock
- ½ tsp yeast extract
- handful of frozen peas, peppers, mixed veg or sweetcorn
- ¼ tsp garlic granules
Instructions
- In a medium sized saucepan, add the rice, turmeric, parsley, onion granules, salt and sugar and stir all together.
- Add the frozen vegetables, chicken stock and yeast extract and stir again.
- Bring the saucepan to boil, then turn down to the lowest setting on your hob and simmer gently for 15mins. Checking occasionally to ensure the rice isn't boiling dry.
- Serve immediately or leave to cool for lunch the next day.
