Sausage rolls

With just a few ingredients, these homemade sausage rolls are so simple to make and taste absolutely delicious—you won’t want to buy the frozen ones again.

They’re one of those classic bakes that feel instantly comforting: buttery puff pastry wrapped around well‑seasoned sausage meat, always so much better than shop‑bought.

There’s something really satisfying about making them from scratch too. They’re easy, fun to assemble, and perfect for getting the whole family involved. Whether served warm from the oven or packed into lunchboxes, they never last long.

Ingredients
  

  • ready to roll puff pastry
  • 400 g sausage meat
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180ºc/Gas 4.  Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Roll out the pastry.  Divide the sausage meat into 3 balls.
  • Roll one of the sausage balls into a long sausage shape and place along the edge of the pastry, tightly roll the pastry to cover all the sausage meat.  Cut along the edge and repeat.  You should end up with 3 long sausage rolls.
  • Place them on the prepared baking tray and glaze with the egg.
  • Cut the long sausage rolls into to bite size chunks.  If you prefer larger sausage rolls, then cut to preferred size.
  • Bake in the oven for approx 25mins until golden.
