It’s September! What’s in season this month?

September is one of the most beautiful months to cook in the UK. The days are still warm enough for alfresco dinners, but there’s a gentle shift in the air — cooler evenings, cosy cravings, and the first signs of autumn produce arriving at markets. It’s a month where late‑summer freshness meets early‑autumn comfort, and the kitchen becomes the perfect place to enjoy that transition.

Tomatoes, plums, blackberries, and courgettes are still going strong, but now you’ll also start to see apples, pears, squashes, and early root veg creeping in. Whether you’re cooking for family, settling back into school routines, or hosting friends at the weekend, September is all about simple, seasonal dishes with big flavour.
